Anton’s Liebe Rot, aka “Anton’s Red Love”, from Swiss cheesemaker Anton Holzinger and Senneri Zurwies, is a relatively recent cheese and a re-envisioning of classic German Limburger. Taking its name from the vivid red of the B. Linens rind, this washed rind wedge of gooey glory was — as promised by the cheesemonger at Stinky’s — absolutely at peak, the paste oozing out of the rind as soon as it warmed up, each bite a pungent, mushroomy, meaty pleasure.
Culture magazine visited Zurwies in September and posted some great photos to their blog.
Update: as Gordon Edgar points out, their advertising is, um, kind of awesome…
Purchased at Stinky’s.
